In this post I share my LoL Worlds 2020 predictions and betting picks. Before I get to them, I go through the teams most likely to fight for the title and analyze their chances to lift the trophy. Let’s not forget that Asia has dominated the competition and eight of the nine winners so far were from that continent.

The only exception so far is Fnatic in the inaugural edition of the LoL World Championship that was way back in 2011. Another fact that deserves a mention is that the European teams have been on the rise in the past two years. On both occasions, a squad from the region reached the Grand Final.

With that out of the way, let’s move on to explore the teams in 2020.

I decided to split my LoL World Championship Main Event betting preview into three different parts. The first one will be dedicated to the top contenders. These are the teams who are most likely to win the trophy and won’t surprise anyone if they succeed.

Top Esports

The team that can win the LPL certainly can win the Worlds too which makes Top Esports the number one favorite in 2020. The Chinese squad was the best in its region and prevailed over exceptional opponents on the road to the title.

The roster of Top Esports is full of talented players in every position and we’ve seen how good their team fights are in the LPL Summer 2020.

Every guy here has a good claim to be the best in the world in his position, or at least in the top 5. There are only a couple of teams that can compete against Top Esports which is why I expect a deep run. Unless the pressure somehow gets to the heads of the players, this is the squad to beat in the 2020 LoL Worlds.

You simply can’t ignore the South Koreans when it comes to predicting the LoL Words 2020 winner. The country has produced the most champions in the history of the tournament so far. On the other hand, there were no South Korean sides in the top 3 in 2018 and 2019.

I’m sure that the LCK representatives will be eager to change that, especially the champions from DAMWON Gaming. They have one of the best supports in the game in BeryL and are lethal when it comes to team fighting.

The group stage should be easy for DAMWON and I expect to see the team in the Last 4 when it’s all said and done. The title is certainly a possibility and that’s one of the squads to watch during the League of Legends Worlds Main Event 2020.

JD Gaming

Another Chinese organization that could go all the way is JD Gaming. The squad revolves around LvMao who always knows what’s best for his teammates. The support player is the key to success in terms of leadership and decision making.

The rest of the roster is full of talented guys who can contribute big time as well. JD Gaming is one of the most dangerous teams out there and should be fighting for the title.

The only problem I see is that the side in the same group with DAMWON Gaming. One of the teams will end up playing against another group winner and could end up in the Loser’s bracket early on. That’s not the biggest deal in the world, though, so I certainly see JD Gaming as a potential winner.

Next in my LoL Worlds 2020 winner predictions are the sleepers. That group consists of teams that are not among the top favorites for one reason or another but still have a chance to win the competition if they reach top form.

G2 Esports

The strongest European team finished second last year and was completely demolished by FunPlus Phoenix in the Worlds Grand Final. The defeat certainly hurt the side and the same roster is back for more action.

The first part of 2020 wasn’t very good for G2, but the team improved gradually and looked strong in the LEC Summer Playoffs. If the rise continues, this is one of the sides that could stop the Asian giants.

The good news is that G2 Esports is the favorite in Group A of the League of Legends World Championship Main Event. If the team can win the top spot, that could open the door to an easy path to the late stages of the competition.

One of the teams that is somewhat underestimated is DRX, formerly known as DragonX. The side has a new roster since the end of 2019 and that had a negative effect on the performance in the early stages of 2020.

DRX was a step behind the best South Korean teams and that was to be expected from five young guys who haven’t played together much at the top level. The chemistry improved over the course of the season and second place in the LCK 2020 Summer is the best testimony to that.

I believe that DRX is one of the dark horses in the competition and the team is not under the same pressure as the big favorites which makes it even more dangerous.

Gen.G

The third representative of South Korea is also going to be tough to beat during the Lol Worlds for multiple reasons. The organization had a disappointing 2019 and decided to change the roster. The new guys have been doing well and they have the talent for something special.

I’m not sure that they have built the necessary cohesion, but the easy starting group should help. Gen.G had some luck with the draw and won’t face any of the other Asian superteams early on which should help the side create some momentum going into the playoffs.

Lol Worlds 2018 Champion Picks

I don’t think that the other teams have a realistic chance of lifting the trophy. The likes of LGD Gaming, Sunning, Fnatic, and Team SoloMid deserve an honorable mention, but they haven’t been on the same level as the top Asian sides and G2 this year.

Unless some of them improve dramatically for the 2020 League of Legends Worlds Main Event, they won’t be able to beat the favorites.

Final Prediction and Top Bets

It’s time for me to share my predictions for the LoL Words 2020 Main Event and that’s a tough task. I have the gut feeling that JD Gaming might perform the best from the favorites because of the excellent chemistry and LvMao’s leadership.

The price for the side is excellent and the same applies to the odds for DRX. The South Koreans are talented, hungry, and vastly underrated which is a great combination. Backing these two organizations are my recommended LoL Worlds 2020 betting picks.

  • Pick: JD Gaming to win; +300
  • Pick: DRX to win; +1500
